This is such a great line: ...the city will reward you with a kind of beauty that doesn’t give a damn if you notice it or not.

Such a good representation of the city: the light, the people, the environment. I really like the photograph of the woman eating pastry. The intensity/density of the crowd really comes through.

Thanks... it's a crazy place and that line is really indicative of my experience - people love it if you show you love it, but if you don't, their thought seems to be "why the hell are you here?"

I think you nailed it with the photos and the prose. Even if it isn't a place you would choose to live in, there's something there that distinguishes it and makes it interesting and alive. NYC is that for me. The threads of time and energy and activity are intense. A visit is enough.

Yeah... that's it exactly - not a place to live, but a place to be alive for a short while.

Napoli, a place not to visit. I’ve heard this said so many times. And yet , you bring out the excitement and also a chaotic energy and beauty. People going about their everyday life and you capturing the ordinary and extraordinary moments . Great job. Reminds me of someone else we know and love.

Marsha - I know, right? It's what I'd always thought about the city. But, it does grow on you. I think it would be a perfect place for that guy we both know - and you - to visit.
